Ramadan with Zaytuna College
Ramadan Mubarak. We're grateful for being able to welcome another Ramadan and have the opportunity to grow closer to our Lord. In mentioning the days of Ramadan, the Qur'an uses a type of plural known as qillah (paucity), reminding us that the days pass swiftly; hence, vigilance is needed to ensure we get the most out of the month.
Our theme this year is "Ramadan: The Soul's Delight," reminding us that while our bodies weary, our souls thrive in Ramadan. Distractions have always vexed the world, but today, many are left feeling anxious and unsettled due to the overwhelming speed at which time flies. Ramadan is a call to slow down, savor the moments that make up the days of our lives, and enjoy the communion of family and friends at iftar. As the poet reminds us, "But at my back I always hear/ Time's winged chariot hurrying near;/ And yonder all before us lie/ Deserts of vast eternity."
Ramadan is preparation for eternity. Among its many blessings is recentering our lives around prayer. The Prophet ﷺ said the delight of his eyes was in the prayer, and he would ask Bilal to call the adhan (call to prayer), so they may find repose in the prayer. Ramadan, being the month of the Qur'an with extra night prayers, gives us the time to reorient ourselves to the Divine, freeing us from worldly concerns. Our scholars have written countless texts on the comforts of dhikr and prayers, and it is in this month where these benefits are multiplied.
The Prophet ﷺ warned, "For those who don't leave backbiting and slander, God cares not whether or not they leave food and drink in Ramadan." This month allows us to transform ourselves into more heaven-aligned people. God promises to change our conditions if we work to better ourselves: the Qur'an says, "God will not change a people's conditions until they change what's in themselves" (13: 11 ).

Prayer Hall Project
In this video, join Ustadh Feraidoon Mojadedi for a visit to our musalla: the heart of our community, the source of the call to prayer that invites us all to come together for worship as the Holy Prophet ﷺ urged us to do. The musalla serves as a sanctuary from the world, a place for study and contemplation. We need your support to renovate and beautify this sacred space.
Online Courses
In this video, President Hamza Yusuf introduces our online courses that give seekers of knowledge everywhere a taste of our curriculum. Courses are filmed in our on-campus studio, which was generously endowed by the Saleh family in honor of the late Medhat Toufic Saleh. Learn more about how you can give the gift of knowledge, a sadaqa jariyah, a gift that will continue to benefit others long after we are gone.
Campus Beautification
Islam calls us to beauty, whether in our prayers and devotions, the meals we cook, the clothes we adorn, or the crafts we undertake. It is this legacy of beauty that brought countless individuals to embrace Islam, enraptured by the perfect example of God’s Chosen One ﷺ. No one reflects divine beauty more than the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and by his command, we must strive to be that beauty mark amongst humanity: a vessel of truth, goodness, and beauty that can revive the barren hearts yearning for divine illumination.
