Healing the Heart, Intellect, and Body
In our brief sojourn in this world, God promises us trials and tribulations of varying degrees. “We shall certainly test you with fear and hunger, and loss of property, lives, and crops; but, [Prophet], give good news to those who are patient” (Qur’an 2:155). Among the greatest of these tribulations are the maladies of the heart, the intellect, and the physical body. No soul leaves this world without enduring some degree of suffering. But just as He, the Most High, tests us with afflictions, He, through his infinite Mercy, provides their cure and healing. The greatest of these cures manifests in the life, practice, and teachings of His Beloved ﷺ, the Chosen One, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. God fashioned in him a flawless form and sublime character, and through him, He gifted humanity with the perfect guide, whose acceptance brings countless mercies to those fortunate enough to embrace him as the Final Prophet ﷺ. As the world rapidly advances to an era of artificial intelligence, distractions and the assault on the human spirit show no bounds. Where do we find repose and restoration? The Companions and their righteous followers turned to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. In his blessed example, we find the ointment to heal the ailments that burden us. His diet and lifestyle treat the most common diseases we witness today. His clarity of thought and commitment to sacred knowledge remove the veils of ignorance from the intellect. And his consistent and sincere devotion to his Creator heal the wounds of a broken heart. God’s promise to creation of a mercy to the worlds is through His Final Messenger, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: the one whose recognition heals and whose remembrance brings felicity.
This Rabi’ al-Awwal, please join us at Zaytuna College as we celebrate our Medicinal Messenger ﷺ. In these troubling times of tribulation and intense afflictions, we turn to the perfect example of God’s Beloved ﷺ as a healing for our heart, mind, and soul.
