The Position

The Social Media Coordinator and Digital Marketing Assistant will be responsible for administering social media content to maintain a strong online presence for Zaytuna College. The successful candidate will be a professional who can work independently, think critically, and apply basic marketing principles to project work. This candidate should have a strong desire to learn and grow in a marketing role and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.   

Essential Functions

The following are the primary day-to-day responsibilities for this position. These are not exclusive or all-inclusive. 

  • Execute a results-driven social media strategy
  • Develop, write, and produce artwork for content across all social media platforms
  •  Create and edit video and photo content for social media
  • Attend events and produce live social media content and monitor accounts
  • Maintain unified voice across social media channels
  • Increase the number of followers, “likes,” and audiences for our digital marketing and social media outputs
  • Maintain social media calendar in collaboration with all relevant departments
  • Monitor social media channels, email best practices, and website optimization for industry trends, and attend trainings as needed
  • Interact with users and respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments
  • Review analytics and create reports on key metrics
  • Assist in the development and management of the social media marketing strategy and influencer marketing as required
  • Stay informed about all areas and departments of the college with an eye toward keeping supporters apprised of news, accomplishments, and events of the College
  • Contribute ideas and actively participate in meetings to help shape the elements of all public-facing communications
  • Perform production of social media content in a timely manner, meeting all deadlines
  • Read Zaytuna College publications to identify key messages to share through social media
  • Maintain Marketing style reference guide
  • Assist in updating the website and in email development and execution
  • Other activities as required by the supervisor and Director of Marketing

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing, Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, or related field

Preferred Experience

  • Three to five years’ prior experience with social media content production as well as email and website management

Competencies

  • Ability to articulate the mission, purpose, and goal of the College and its programs in language that is clear, concise, and inspirational
  • Graphic design skills using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of CMS systems and email design
  • Familiarity with social media, website, and email analytical tools
  • Project-management skills, with experience in project-management software
  • Excellent research and writing skills, including the ability to write with the appropriate tone, style, and language required for projects related to intellectual public engagement
  • Commitment to quality, accuracy, and consistency, including adherence to brand standards
  • Ability to work and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, with flexibility to work evenings, nights, and weekends
