The Position

Our team is looking for a talented candidate who maintains a positive attitude and is hard-working as well as naturally talented in audio-visual technology, particularly photography and videography. The candidate is a natural photographer, who can capture the essence of academics, campus life, and events. The candidate for the Audio-Visual Specialist role is creative, upbeat, strategic, highly organized with a keen sense of detail. The candidate should be just as comfortable behind a camera as they are behind a desk. This role requires working some evenings and weekends, particularly during campaigns and around events on the academic calendar. Thus, the candidate should have flexibility in work hours as, at times, evening hours or weekends are required.

Essential Functions

  • Assists with both pre-production, live production, and post-production tasks for photography and videography

  • Assists with set-up and breakdown of AV gear used for live events and recordings.

  • Uploading, tagging, and organizing photo and video files to offline and online storage media/platforms.

  • Keeps track of AV requests and event calendar.

  • Liaises with college department stakeholders to provide audio visual support for classroom and event activities.

  • Serves as lead campus and event photographer.

  • Ability to travel locally and rarely out of state to record Zaytuna events and student activity.

  • Available to work odd hours, including some nights and weekends for events and activity.

  • Video editing requirements include, but are not limited to:

    • Creating clips from existing video content

    • Reformatting videos to vertical layout for use on social media

    • Creating final videos of events and livestream events

    • Editing videos for college campaigns

  • Audio editing

    • Year-round podcast content and creating audio clips for YouTube and social media

  • Proficiency with Apple Final Cut Pro and/or Davinci Resolve video editing applications

  • Proficiency with the following Adobe software: Photoshop, Lightroom, and Illustrator

  • Additional audiovisual-related tasks and calendaring as needed which may not be explicitly stated on this list

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree in related field or a combination of transferable work experience/certifications.

Experience

  • Audiovisual Assistant: Minimum 1-2 years. At least one year of capture and edit experience with digital photography and videography

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Track record of successfully working in an Audiovisual Assistant capacity.

  • Knowledge of Islam, Zaytuna College, and passion for non-profits and higher education institutions.

  • Desire to learn new AV-related hardware and software.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, on short notice, some evenings and weekends.

  • Skilled communicator, both verbally and in writing.

  • Maintain a positive attitude and cheerful outlook.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a team with a strong, self-driven work ethic in a dynamic, goal-oriented environment.

  • Ability to track and meet agreed-upon deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail skills required.  

  • Highly organized and technically inclined.

  • Experience with livestream events.

  • Strong project management skills from conception to delivery.  

  • Strong ability to set priorities and manage timelines.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Appreciation for working in a religious environment, particularly a Muslim environment.
