Summer Term Closing Ceremony 2024

On Friday, August 2nd, 2024 in the upper campus auditorium, the College held its Summer Arabic Intensive closing ceremony with keynote addresses from the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Dr. Ali Ataie, Vice President Dr. Aisha Subhani, and President Hamza Yusuf. For several of the incoming freshmen, this course was the first time they wereexposed to the Arabic language so deeply, while immersed in a Muslim environment. One of the student speakers, freshman Basmalah Shafi, a resident of Texas, shared that the seven weeks spent in the Summer Arabic Intensive offered her a transformative experience. She explained that she profoundly realized not only why we study, but that Zaytuna College is about acquiring knowledge that defines human beings as a species.
