Mohamed Boufares
Associate Professor and Imam Ratib
Biography
Dr. Mohamed Boufares serves as Associate Professor and the Imam Ratib at Zaytuna College.
A native of Morocco, he is a hafiz of the Qur’an and a traditionally trained scholar of the Islamic sciences, specializing in usul al-fiqh, the Arabic language, and Maliki fiqh. In addition to his traditional studies in the Southern Moroccan and Mauritanian tradition, Dr. Boufares holds a BA in English Literature from Hassan II University in Casablanca and a PhD in usul al-fiqh from Qarawiyyin University Dar El-Hadith El-Hassania for Higher Islamic Studies in Rabat, Morocco.
Before his arrival at Zaytuna College, Dr. Boufares served as a professor at Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities and Almuwatta Centre, as well as the Assistant Director of the Emirati Scholars Development Program in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He is fluent in English, Arabic, and French.

He has published scholarly works on a range of subjects, including the branches of jurisprudence, the method of Imam Ibn-al-Qasim in the classical text the Mudawwana, and the science of logic.
