    In 2009, Zaytuna College was founded in Berkeley, California, with a mission that called for grounding students in the Islamic scholarly tradition as well as in the cultural currents and critical ideas shaping modern society.

It is difficult to measure or describe the impact that Zaytuna College, under the leadership of Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, has had on me and countless others. For many years, through dynamic programming, publications, and retreats, Zaytuna College has been a beacon of hope and enlightenment for Muslims, young and old, all over the world.

Zaytuna's work created a ripple effect. Other communities began to develop their own local educational efforts, young men and women were inspired to pursue traditional Islamic studies, and how we engaged in discussing Islam was forever changed.
