In an age when faith in God and belief in revealed religion are challenged by scientism, skepticism, and atheism, the need for a firm understanding of the Muslim creed has perhaps never been more important. This weekend course with Faraz Khan will provide students with the essentials of Islamic doctrine and its epistemological foundations, based on a reading of the classical primer The Creed of Imam al-Sanusi. Course topics include the attributes of God, types of propositions, causality, predestination and free will, the problem of suffering, prophetology, and the Kalam cosmological argument.
